Scott Tobermann is originally from Mississippi and grew up hunting and fishing in south Alabama. His family moved to Dallas in 1980. He received his Bachelor of Veterinary Science
from Texas A&M University in 1987 and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M University in 1990. He is a Member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Texas Veterinary Medical Association. He has been USDA Veterinary Accredited since 1990.
Scott joined Dallas Safari Club in 2002 and is a Life Member. He is the 2016 recipient of the Dallas Safari Club Award of Excellence. He has served as Dallas Safari Club Vice President 2016-2017, Dallas Safari Club 2018 Convention Chair, Dallas Safari Club Director 2017-2018, Dallas Safari Club President-Elect 2018-2019, Dallas Safari Club President 2019- 2020, and DSC Foundation Director 2020 and 2021. He currently serves as DSC Foundation Vice President.
